Caecal Worms are very common however they don't actually do much damage however blackhead organisms can live in the worms eggs for many months and cause blackhead many months later in Turkeys. Black head really is something to look out for if you keep Turkeys and caecal worms are one of the reasons many turkey breeders don't allow their turkeys to mix with their chickens. Caecal worms infestations occurs directly by birds eating eggs that have been passed out in droppings following what is known as a direct life cycle.

Signs and Symptoms

None. Birds will carry caecal worms without showing any ill-effects.

Treatment

As with all internal parasites, there are many treatments both organic and chemical that will kill these worms. Internal Parasites or Worms in Chickens and Other Poultry provides some ideas for worming poultry.
