The British Waterfowl Association has just launched a new 'birds for sale' section to their website. This is a place where BWA members can advertise any waterfowl they may want to sell (you don't have to be a member to browse or buy of course!)
Simply visit http://www.waterfowl.org.uk and click on 'birds for sale'. To make an entry, you will need to be a BWA member: all you will need is your name and membership number and in a few clicks, you can get your advert listed. Once your birds are sold, you are also able to delete your advert.
The British Hen Welfare Trust is delighted to announce its celebration of a great milestone in the charity's history: the re-homing of its 250,000th hen. The event will take place at a hen collection day at the charity's headquarters on Saturday 16th April in Chulmleigh, Devon.
Jane Howorth, who founded the British Hen Welfare Trust in 2005 having been moved by the plight of caged hens after watching a Panorama documentary, will hand over the 250,000th lucky hen to a family looking to re-home chickens on the day.
Colchester Poultry Club are holding a Poultry Talk in conjunction with their Egg Show on Sunday 17th April between 11am and 1 pm at The Venture Centre, Lawford, nr Manningtree, Essex CO11 2JE.
At 11am there will be a talk on general Poultry Husbandry, then experienced club members and Local Poultry Vet Anita James will be on hand to answer questions. Poultry equipment, books & Gift Items will be on sale along with Fertile Hatching Eggs. Entry is Free and light refreshments will be available.
Hen Rehomers UK have recently changed their name to Fresh Start for Hens. With the name change comes a new website www.freshstartforhens.co.uk
The main aim of the organization is to rehome ex-battery hens into loving, forever homes. These endearing little creatures make lovely little pets and may often provide you with eggs, but this cannot be guaranteed.

On May 1st, Colchester poultry club are holding a "Chicken Day" at Harvey's Garden Centre. The day is aimed at potential and novice poultry keepers. There will be an exhibition of pure breed poultry (large fowl and bantams) as well as ducks. Throughout the day, there will be talks and demonstrations on all aspects of poultry and waterfowl keeping, housing, health etc. Poultry equipment and housing will be on sale and they may be some birds for sale.
