Pied (Crollwitzer) Turkey Photos

The Pied (Crollwitzer) turkey is very attractive and alert. In both sexes, the neck feathers are white with black and the breast feathers are similar, giving an attractive appearance. The saddle is black and the back, white. The tail is white with black bands. The legs and feet are pink that will darken with age.

The Pied (Crollwitzer) looks the same as the American Royal Palm, some people arguing there is no difference but many breeders in the UK keep the two varieties separate. Turkey Club UK call this turkey the Pied (Crollwitzer) because the European Pied turkey is much older than the black and white turkey from the U.S. For the UK standard, set out by Turkey Club UK, the turkey is taken back to it's country of origin where possible, the Pied being taken back to the Crollwitzer Institute in Germany.
