Breeds of Old English Game have been in the UK since early in the 19th Century and is a descendant of the ancient fighting cocks. The original birds would have been cockerels used for fighting.  They are small birds with a tightly feathered plumage.  They can be very active and noisy birds. They are classed as hard feather.

There are 2 types of Old English Game, The Oxford and The Carlisle. There are 30 different colour variations of Oxford Old English Game available: pile, cuckoo, hennie, brown breasted brown red, ginger breasted ginger red, black breasted dark red, black breasted red, streaky breasted orange red, shady or streaky breasted light red, muff and tassel, black breasted yellow duckwing, black breasted silver duckwing, black breasted birchen duckwing, clear mealy breasted mealy grey, black breasted dark grey, yellow silver and honey dun, dun breasted blue dun, streaky breasted red dun, spangled, white, black, furness brassy back and polecat, brown breasted yellow birchen. Phew!
