A mini egg can sometimes be laid that is about quarter of the usual size. This usually doesn't have a yolk inside it, but it is filled with ‘white' or albumen. This does not trigger the start or end of lay. Normally only one of these is laid so it is nothing to worry about.
Causes.
A small foreign object enters the oviduct and ‘triggers' the normal formation of an egg, as a yolk would.
Treatment.
No treatment is required and no damage is done by this.
