A Poultry Courier Service - JM Couriers

04/08/10 - Unfortunately, we have heard that JM Couriers have gone out of business.

If you find a rare breed of poultry, or a certain strain of birds for sale that have particularly good qualities, it is sometimes possible to miss out on a great deal, because either they are too far away or there are too many birds to fit into your car. With new poultry auction sites, such as Bid 4 Poultry springing up, there are now options open to poultry keepers to buy birds from all over the country. What is needed is somebody to transport these birds for us and this is where a specialist licensed animal courier is needed.

Julia & Mike run JM Livefish & Aquaria Couriers Ltd, (or more commonly called just JM Couriers). JM Couriers is a small family run business that was started after Mike had an operation that sadly put an end to his career as a farmer. Their Sons and Daughters look after business at the home office when they are travelling (which of course is quite often being couriers!)

Poultry Delivery Service

Despite the name including 'Livefish & Aquaria' they are licensed to carry poultry. Some of the other more exotic animals they have couriered are snakes, gecko's, lizards, pygmy hedgehogs, skunks, parrots, macaws, canaries, pigeons, dogs, live fish, as well as fish tanks, vivariums and other equipment.

Collections are normally delivered on the same day or as early as possible the next day. This usually involves an early start and late finish and can be on any day of the week. With live goods Julia and Mike don't stop until they are safely delivered to their new home.

Licensed to Deliver Live Goods.

Julia and Mike have a DEFRA Type 2 Animal Transporter Licence which allows them to carry all species of live animals. In the U.K. by law, it is necessary to have such a licence in order to perform such a service. It is a good idea to see a copy of this Licence before entrusting a courier with precious birds and licensed couriers will be only too happy to show you theirs if they are reputable.
