The Cochin is an ornamental breed that originates from China. It was exported to America and the United Kingdom in the mid 19th century. The Cochin has excessive plumage that covers both the legs and feet that makes it look rather unusual.
Birds usually need to be kept carefully penned on wet days so the lower feathers don't get spoilt.
The Cochin is available in a number of colours including black, blue, white, buff, partridge, splash, silver laced and gold laced. A bantam version is also available.
