The Auburn Turkey

Auburn turkeys are a variation from the more commonly found bronze variety. The bronze colour is replaced by a reddish brown colour commonly called auburn. Day old poults look like bronze turkey poults but their black stripes are auburn stripes.

Breeding an auburn stag (or 'tom' if you are American) with a bronze hen will produce bronze stags and auburn hens. They are not standardised in the UK and I don't know of anyone keeping Auburn Turkeys here but there are certainly people keeping them in the US although they are fairly rare compared to the other breeds of turkey.
